Influenza A H5N8

H5N8 was first found in domestic ducks in China. H5N8 is a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). From 2010, H5N8 outbreak has been reported from Asia. In 2014/2015, outbreaks in HPAI A (H5N8) were reported in Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom as well as in the US and Canada. To date HPAI A (H5N8) viruses have been detected in 30 wild bird species. There are no human infected with H5N8, but there is a potential risk for human cases of H5N8 infections.
