Host defense receptors, are referred to these receptors that play a key role in adaptive cellular and humoral immune responses, including complement receptors, Fc receptors and toll-like receptors. These receptors are perfect drug targets for a great many diseases.
CCR1 plays an important role in host defense and is involved in regulating the chemotaxis of immune cells, a feature it shares in common with all chemokine receptors. Dysregulation of this response leads to autoimmunity and CCR1 has been associated with the pathophysiology of a number of diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, transplant rejection and allergic inflammatin.
