V5 tag Background Information

The V5 epitope tag has a 14-amino-acid sequence (GKPIPNPLLGLDST) which is derived from simian parainfluenza virus type 5 (SV5). The V5 epitope tag is used to label a protein of interest so that the tagged protein can be analyzed and visualized. Anti-V5 epitope tag antibody products recognize and detect V5-tagged proteins without a protein-specific antibody or probe in several immunochemical assays such as Western Blotting, ELISAs and immunostaining techniques.
