Background of Kinase

The kinase is a type of enzyme. It is usually involved in the process that is known as phosphorylation. In biochemistry, when the substrate gains a phosphate group and the high energy molecule of ATP donates a phosphate group, the kinase catalyzes the transfer of phosphate groups from high-energy, phosphate-donating molecules to specific substrates. Based on substrates, kinases can be classified into several groups, such as protein kinase, lipid kinase, carbohydrate kinase and other small molecule kinase. Kinase plays an important role in signal transduction and co-ordination of multiple functions, such as cellular transport, secretory processes, metabolism, protein regulation, and many other cellular pathways.
