流感A/duck/Laos/3295/2006 H5N1背景

Influenza A viruses cause natural infections of humans, some other mammals and birds. Few of the 16 haemagglutinin and nine neuraminidase subtype combinations have been isolated from mammals, but all subtypes have been isolated from birds. HA codes for hemagglutinin, an antigenic glycoprotein found on the surface of the influenza viruses and is responsible for binding the virus to the cell that is being infected. NA codes for neuraminidase, an antigenic glycosylated enzyme found on the surface of the influenza viruses. In the 20th century, there were four pandemics of influenza as a result of the emergence of antigenically different strains in humans: 1918 (H1N1), 1957 (H2N2), 1968 (H3N2) and 1977 (H1N1). H5N1 is a subtype of the species Influenza A virus of the Influenzavirus A genus of the Orthomyxoviridae family. Like all other influenza A subtypes, the H5N1 subtype is an RNA virus. Since 1997, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus crossed the species barriers from birds to humans and caused fatal disease, leading to great speculation about a possible influenza pandemic. The H5N1 virus is alarming because 51 (64 %) of the 80 people confirmed as infected since 1997 have died.

Sino Biological Inc offer Recombinant Hemagglutinin Protein from the A/duck/Laos/3295/2006 (H5N1) for research aim.
